The Spanish Pug Dog Club is positioned in favor of the protests against the measures adopted by the Dutch Government that since May 18, 2020 prohibits in its legislation, the breeding of 12 brachycephalic breeds as well as the decision of the Dutch Kennel Club not to issue pedigrees of affected breeds.

We join the fight of all the canine organizations that have externalized and emitted their rejection against these measures.

We believe that in the 21st century in democratic countries, an unfounded ban supposes a limitation of freedom and even worse a limitation of life for these breeds.

They have not taken into consideration all the research and investigation made along the years by the FCI, Cambridge and many other organizations that have based their studies on improving the health of these breeds.

We also think that the consequences will become much more serious and harmful with illegal breeding in the Netherlands, which is going to get promoted with this ban, since the lack of clear standard guidelines in breeding will favor other health problems that are already present.

With this statement of intents, we support the studies carried out and health tests made in favor of improving the health of these breeds, but never a breeding ban.

After centuries of existence our breed the Pug deserves that we protect and maintain its legacy, not that we let it die out.
