Is the Russian Blue or Chartreux the Right Breed for you? The Russian Blue is a cat breed that comes in colors varying from a light shimmering silver to a darker, slate grey. Some can almost look blue, like Zeus. They develop close bonds with their owners and are sought out as pets due to their personalities, beauty and coat. It is their short, dense coat which has been the hallmark of the Russian breed for more than a century. The dense coat stands out from the body and you can draw patterns in the coat that will stay until you smooth them out again.

The Chartreux is a rare breed of domestic cat from France and is recognised by a number of registries around the world. It is not currently recognised by the GCCF in the UK, ostensibly for being too similar to the British Shorthair and Russian Blue one of whose colours is a similar blue-grey.
